In the game of basketball, everybody loses games. How you lose a game in the sport of basketball and your reactions in response to a loss can be more important than winning, sometimes. This report addresses one of those situations.
If you nonchalantly accept losing basketball games and not winning games, your basketball career will be short lived. Nobody loves a loser. If you blame everyone around you for the loss, and you don’t take personal responsibility for your own actions and mistakes that contributed to the unwelcome result when you lose, nobody is going to want to be your teammate. It takes a team to win basketball games, and it takes a team of combined mistakes to lose a basketball game, most of the time. If losing games discourages you from practicing hard to the best of your ability, if it puts you down in the dumps for too long of a period of time, and, for any reason, you lazily loaf your way through practice sessions after losing basketball games, your personal improvement will stall. Being a slacker is unwanted by good teammates. Team players always know who is being a slacker during practice and who is busting their butt to improve. These things are almost never discussed publicly after a team loses a basketball game. They are important aspects relevant to the game of basketball .
It is true, winning breeds more winning. Losing, well, it can make everyone on and around a basketball team unhappy and it almost always leads to less productivity, and often it results in more losses.
A powerful asset of a winning championship team is how they deal with important game losses, not what players and coaches say in public – to the media – about losing, but what they actually do about it subsequently.
Winning is always best for a basketball team. However, if you learn to ‘properly lose’ games in basketball, eventually, it can make you tough as nails to be defeated.
In evaluating young basketball players it is important to know how they react and handle losing games. It is easy to evaluate how young basketball players react to victory, which is not always positive in its manner. It’s not always easy to establish these traits of dealing with losses in young athletes. The media can’t and won’t tell you, most people don’t talk about it, most players don’t really understand it.
This ‘ZEN’ basketball report is all about a group of players, coaches and an organization losing a basketball game of the highest consequences, in the most drastic unexpected manner imaginable. Game 2 in the 2026 NBA Finals.
Every great player cries sometimes, gets upset, angry and struggles with games lost. There is nothing wrong with that response. However, it is not a completely sufficient requirement to losing basketball games
Everybody gets beat. Sometimes, we get smashed by a big score. Sometimes, we don’t make many mistakes but the ball just bounces the wrong way in a close game. Those results are difficult to accept.
Sometimes we get beat in close games due to our own mistakes, actions that were due to stupid on court decisions in the heat of the battle. This type of loss was never more evident than in game 2 of the 2026 NBA Finals.
Victor Wembanya stunned the world with a big mistake and hit his teammate with an errand pass while changing ends of the court in the last 11 seconds of the game. This with the score tied, insuring overtime, or a last second chance to score the winning basket.
Victor, in a panic, then unbelievably compounded his mistake and fouled Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks, sending him to the foul line and make the winning free throw point.
IT WAS A HISTORIC MELTDOWN! THE MELTDOWN HAPPENED IN THE MOST IMPORTANT GAME OF THE YEAR FOR THE SAN ANTONIO NBA PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM!
I was in shock, numb, watching, as the Spurs had probably just blown the chance to win the NBA finals by losing both game 1 and 2 on their home court. It’s tough to turn the best of 7 series around when you go down 0 to 2 on your home court. which you worked all year for a better regular season record to have in the Finals.
After playing the best defense I had ever seen for the first quarter of the game, the San Antonio Spurs and Victor Wembanyama lost.
I had no solutions, no suggestions. no thoughts … … …
THE ONLY THING ONE CAN DO IS LISTEN TO “PUT THE LIME IN THE COCONUT”< song, and start to read about Alexander The Great.
This is the online ‘Zen Basketball Report’ I created after game 2 of the 2026 NBA Finals.
THE MUSIC
Music can send messages and information, it can create feelings, … it is important in a 2026 modern day ‘ZEN Basketball Report’.
The song: ‘Put The Lime In The Coconut’, written and performed by Harry Nilsson, was selected for this presentation due to its tenor and how the lyrical delivery fits a desperate situation causing stress, a situation that has no immediate easy applicable solution and the consequences should be ignored in the short term, but it can not be eventually avoided.
Also selected as presentation music is a fragment of the song ‘Is There Anybody Out There’, by Pink Floyd , the playing of the songs are intentionally in overdubbing mode. It represents to empty lonely feeling after losing a game of sports of such importance as that which the San Antonio Spurs lost tonight. was
The following is a ‘ZEN BASKETBALL report. It is to be an immediate reaction free flow of ideas.
It may at times seem incoherent in its written and presentation form. The objective is just to get one’s ideas flowing and make a written documentation of such.
Hopefully, upon a later further review, something will be discovered or found that is valuable in a basketball team’s future attempts to win a game.
It can be hyper critical, it is seldom glowing full of praise, although important positive aspects should be mentioned.
This is a basketball reporting style and method which was developed by Doctor Dunkenstein and Coach Phil Jackson in 1992-93. It had positive effects on the coaching of Coach Jackson during his first three-peat NBA championship run with the Chicago Bulls basketball team. It works!

Game 2 – 2026 NBA Finals
View: Victor Wembanyam’s reaction to his performance and mistakes at the end of a game, the Spurs lost the lead in the final minutes of the game. Fundamental errors were made in the last seconds of the game..
REPORT CONCLUSION:
Doctor Dunkenstein is at a loss for productive ideas in regards to game 2 results in the 2026 NBA Finals .
Suggestion: Put The Lime on The Coconut, call me in the morning, quick … … …
Live to fight another day.
Read about Alexander The Great, that always helped doctor Dunkenstein.
Sunshine – Enviromental Healing:
Highly suggested after losing an important basketball game.
Sunshine often helps after a loss of something important. It’s always good to visit a park, or spend time at the beach, or just go for a walk … Victor Wembanyama visits Gramesey Park in Manhattan of New York City, NY, … with two siblings between game 2 and game 3 … drawing art.

RE: Good Coaching Overall, but big confusion on sidelines in the last seconds of the game. Why?
RESILIENT team demonstrated, resilient players, smart young men, who made very stupid fundamental mistakes, that cost the team the game, maybe the entire series. .. … after losing game 2 the team appears loose, … are they to loose, is ignorance bliss, do they not understand real actual consequences, or, are they just an optimistic group of guys..

Report Title: “I Am Uncomfortably Numb”
I have nothing to say. No that is not the truth.
The truth is, I feel … numb.
… and I have only one thing to say.
Last night, I am almost certain, I watched 12 minutes of the best defense played in a basketball game that I have ever watched, it was during (quarter #1) the game two (2) in the 2026 NBA Finals, …. for the first 12 minutes of the game. then it disappeared.
The Spurs, what happened , why the drastic change in defense, everyone wants to talk about the change in score, nobody is mentioning the collapse of defense. the change in defensive performance was drastic within a single game. I have never witnessed such a quick change from great to bad in a defensive performance as I watch happen last night ..WHY?
Yes, I think I did … I will go back and watch it again, today.
I am numb because after I saw this first quarter of basketball being played between the San Antonio Spurs verses the New York City Knicks, I continued to watch every minute of the game until the end.
The finals result:
San Antonio Spurs 104
New York Knicks 105
I do not want to express more than this at this moment.
Thus, the Doctor Dunkentstein Report is complete.
Listen to music, …
CONCLUSION: The 2026 San Antonio Spurs played the BEST basketball defense I have ever watch in any basketball game, in my entire life, for 12 minutes, in game two, during the first quarter of the game, of the 2026 NBA Finals. And the final score was New York City Knicks: 102, and the San Antonio Spurs 101.
END of REPORT
I am numb … … I am on the ‘Dark Side of The Moon” (Full Album available above).
my immediate thoughts … taken from Alexander The Great ..
Men … today live, live to fight another day, then fight, fight again, … … fight like it is your last day ever … your last to ever fight again.
… … … due to the feeling I now have from watching the San Antonio Spurs basketball team be defeated last night. I want to tell the team players … . It stirs emotion. I want to tell, those who battled and lost, that: ‘The War is Not Over”, not today.
Prepare , we shall fight soon, prepare, to take no prisoners in that fight soon to occur. Regardless if we lose the war… or lose the battle before us, on Monday,…
Advice for the team:
… fellas. Fight – Take No Prisoners.
Thoughts on the next battle taken from Alexander The Great hundreds of years before today: There are future wars ahead to be fought and won. Fighting in this upcoming eminent battle shall affect and effect the outcome of those future wars. Do not submit, do not present you utmost, … .. fight as you can fight. Alexander conquered much land, many people and territory before he was 25 years old … he is someone to heed if you attempt to be a young warrior.
There will be future wars to pursue a NBA Championship.
Yes it is a non-weapon combat battle to win an NBA Championship. This , I am certain, you now understand better than you understood previously … fight!
Below: Videos – Everybody & Their Grandmothers have opinions about the game 2, NBA Finals last night.
If you happen to want to hear all this yak, yak, yak …. and more yak, I suggest, you should listen to it in the future, months from now. Perhaps in August 2026 … not now.
NOW WIN GAME #3!

IGNORE THIS SUGGESTION ***
QUESTION / Opinion / suggestion ONLY / idea for thought / small things add up in the Finals /
If I were Mitchell Chase Johnson, and the NYC Media should be happy I am not Coach Mitch, every time they ask me a silly question – – which is often – and he ALWAYS politely responds – – I would smile and just say,
Yes, WE (The Spurs) just need to Put The Lime In the Coconut.
Why is Coach Mitch always attempting to debate his decisions and prove something to the media during NBA playoffs?
Ok, regular season, perhaps, I understand.
Isn’t your time better spent then try to teach ‘Spurs’ Basketball to an Internation media core, an obnoxious national media, lead by real jerks from the NYC media.
Question: aren’t you busy …
They are Lucky ‘Pop’, well that’s probably why Coach Mitch is extra careful not to offend the media , and insult their ‘safe space’. I understand …
they are Lucky it Coach Mitch answering questions,,
IS IT helpful to winning an NBA Championship, I don’t know? what’s Pop say,…???
Zen Basketball Rereport Date – June 5, 2026

Score:
Spurs 104
Knicks 105
2026 NBA Finals
A GAME 2
I got the score wrong. … it does not matter that herewithin I reported the final score of the game covered incorrectly as being 101 to 102.
The only important fact is that the team that won this game had one single point more than the San Antonio Spurs.
Note: I do not know the score of any basketball game I ever played in, can’t remember a single score. But, I always knew, at every minute of every game, the point spread, difference, , the point difference of score between the teams, … that is the only thing IMPORTANT !
After four decades, I still remember those five points of separation on the score board in that devastating game loss in Salt Lake City.
THE POINT SPREAD (difference, this determines things which a basketball player needs to know about during the game, this determines what he should do, and the way to play, …right? The score and the clock, that’s all folks.
A basketball player doesn’t play the same way when his team is ahead in the score by 30 points , compared to if the team is ahead by 3 points , not matter how much time remains on the clock. so spread first, clock second …
Coaching Question ..
to Spurs staff/ suggestion
I would have waited at the Locker room entrance to ask the following question, or d.
In a private one-on -one , player Coach whispering meeting in a quick verbal exchange …
… … or, I would ask the following question at the very first chance the next morning … … … … .
Wait until everybody is finished crying, showered, and the pain has subsided. [ Ya know, wait for clear air, immediately, just after another nervous breakdown of the 10,000 nervous breakdowns a basketball has … has subsided. (Music Play Lit: Rolling Stone, Song: 10k -th Nervous Breakdown) … .. … .]
Then ask, floor plaers
Ask every player, Step, X, Y,Z, “how much time was on the clock when Victor decided to be Isiah Thomas and dribble up the court, the he decided to be John Stockton , the NBA all time assist leader, and pass the pall. (humor intended) …
Question: ask quietly in privateto, (each player – individually), tell me (the coach) , did you know the score was tied, and how much time was on the clock when Vic was undecided on being John Stockton or Isiah Thomas, you knew the score was tied, right, and of course did you.
Then what was the standard team TIMEOUT policy, please don’t tell me , it was not pre-establish and practices as a walk through 5 dozen times in the regular season ,,, please tell me the team situation policy for the Spurs is not, HEY< EVERYBODY< LOOK AT ME IN THIS SITUATION< 9of mass confusion and pressure) , Hey lock at me Coach Mitch, if you see me waving my hands on the sidelines then tawt means no time oot, if I am sticking my finger in my nose, as Coach on the sideline, that means, time out, … please tell me this is a ‘LOOK AT THE COACH ON THE SIDELINE POLICY END OF GAME PROCEDURE.
Oh no, it was… yes NBA coaches standing on the sidelines jumping around, living vicariously through the players. Umm that is policy with many NBA coaching staffs. They self importance … BIG MISTAKR was this situation should have been trained into the players like they were command German Shepard attack dogs, from the date of Ocober 2025.
{Ask me about the Zen Master , chair sit}
Do you understand the point being expressed herewithin this paragraph in this report?
RIGHT, how about the clock, yes
… point spread and clock time
NEED both automatically in your head, not always exact, but it should be generally close to automatic clock in your … Tim e remaining. Have you ever practiced this ‘the Coach Clipboard’?
POLICY STANDARD TRAINED LIKE A DOG into all players in the … head, with the point difference and the possible time difference …what is the policy. Not what the coaching hand wave from a chaotic sideline establishes what the team on the floor in this situation, SHOULD< COULD< MIGHT< MAYBE DO!
Immediate Quote of Victor Wembanyama, in post game interview room:
” I played 40 minutes, (Victor said ), I don’t know, I have to go back and look at it, …. score of a game in which he is participating … … … .. .. .. “
Well, we should discuss this, no stress … discuss it over hot dogs and cola in August, not a topic for now … … perhaps a chat session in August, not now, “For Goodness Sakes”.
…. unfortunately good players often remember the amount of points they lost by in the most important games … a lot of games,
I remember those spreads. …. I know the San Antonio Spurs lost by * 1 point
…, da da da, ne (1) point last night. … 101 -102 —- 105 t0 104, it does not matter, that one (1) single point does matter !
Upset, why, both you players, coaches, staff, and even myself, NOW, are going to remember that fact for many years after thw world forgets. Spurs beat by 1 point on June 6, 2026 against NYC Knicks, in Frost Bank Center.
Put it in the back of your mind for now, subconsciously put it in the back of your brain,
it should help subconsciously motivate you Monday …
After Game Immediate Remarks
Good: it’s over, move on, 1000x possibility, move on game 3, looks like June 7th, everybody has moved way ahead, Great team looking shoot around … lots of smiles,
smiles and swishes on the court inside Madison Garden, Sunday afternoon … June 8th, 2026 …charge ahead, troops, storm the gate, WIN game 3.

The 16 year old conquering warrior ;;;
‘Alexander The Great’
Alexander III of Macedon (Ancient Greek: Ἀλέξανδρος, romanized: Aléxandros; 20/21 July 356 BC – 10/11 June 323 BC), most commonly known as Alexander the Great, was king of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon.
He succeeded his father Philip II to the throne in 336 BC at the age of 20, and spent most of his reign conducting a lengthy military campaign throughout Asia and Egypt. By the age of 30, he had created one of the largest empires in history, stretching from Greece to northwestern India.
He was undefeated in battle and is widely considered to be one of history’s greatest and most successful military commanders.
Everyone thought he was too young to be the ruler …
Everybody thinks the San Antonio Spurs and Victor Wembanyama ARE TOO YOUNG …to do what?
Doctor Cricket Dunkenstein is NOT everybody … the Spurs are inow playing n game 3 and four of the 2026 NBA Finals. They don’t need to provide their identification cards to validate thier age at the door of Madison Square Garden in order to be permitted to enter the gates and play basketball, now do they.
Either is the Spurs Coaching staff, they ain’t everybody either …
Title: I WENT NUMB
Subject / Victor Wembanyama
After 2026 NBA Finals Game In Lockerroom Hallway
Game 2 / Tears /
Victor vibe …
I wasn’t the player who toss that ball into the back of a team mate, so I didn’t cry. However I went numb for a few hours.
I wasn’t the one who took a fifteen foot jump shot as the last shot of the game, and then falls backword on his butt to the floor. Not the fundamental way taught to shoot a jump shot. Not the way you shoot a jump shot most of the time. However I went numb after the game,
I wasn’t one the basketball court with 10 second left in the game,
the four other players, other than Victor, who somewhere out in Pluto land. and DID NOT PUT EYES ON THE BASKETBALL!
one of those four guys for 5 to sick seconds before Victor hit Stephon in then bac, were hesitant, without a plan, timeout, go stop, lost on right side of floor, …
. But, I took went numb after the game was complet.
I wasn’t Stephon Cassel , who had no freaking idea where the ball was when it hit him in the back. Those allowing Jalen Brunson to get the ball. Nevertheless, I went Numb after the game.
I was’t the five guess who ran a bad entry play n with weak screens and poor execution with only 7 seconds left on the clock. (Almost got a 5 second entry violation on that play).. but I went numb.
I was slow getting to the ball on the last play like Foxy was on the last play. But I went numb after the game.
I was foxy, the point guard who stood dribbling seconds away on the clock, thus not providing enough time for a second shot in the last 7 seconds of the game. ( Which, by the way, – was it Stepon – who gat his hands on the ball -after the clock ran out.. But I gasp for air when I saw it, and went numb for hours after the buzzer sounded,
I was the player …. making lots of mistakes.
I was NOT the coaches on the bench who did not design a strong end of the game play. Or alternatively did not have the play practiced so many times in the regular season that the players should not hesitate , as they all did, and the coaches should know the players CAN run 5 end of the gameplayed with there eyes closed. Seriously, have you ever walked though an end of the game play and have the players blindfolded. I have. It works, thene everybody has it in the brain, they know whetrte everybody should do.
that wasn’t me who did not have the end of the game play prep right, … BuT I saw it unfold. It still sticks in my head, I watched it once, 54 times, I got out memorized, how about you, is it in your memory. It is in my head, it made me numb.
I am not a 7’5 guy trying to win a game from 20 ft from the rim , instead of … anyway, that thought makes me numb … lots of times ..
YES I WENT NUMB.
BUT I WAS ONE OF THOSE HARD FIGHTING _ NEVER GIVE UP COME FROM !$ BACK < FIGHT LIKE HELL SPURS PLAYERS ….But I know what that takes too .
I know everything below is about the fight ahead …
Win On Monday. Yes win
Forget EVERYTHING about game two, it’s in your subconscious memory, flow forwards. Win, play again, same energy, less mistakes, simple …
brain power improves daily …
I AM NOT GOING NUMB ON Monday or Wednesday.
Song Lyrics:
‘Put The Lime In The Coconut, Call Me In the Morning.’
( above lyric line is repeated at nauseam in the song,
… the intensity change as to how it is sung is the artful expression within the song. … listen to Harry’s intensity change, its expression)
Now let me get this straight
You put the lime in the coconut, you drank them both up
You put the lime in the coconut, you drank them both up
Put the lime in the coconut, you drank them both up
Harry saved me this morning, again … with his song.
. I needed ‘Lime In The Coconut’ this morning, I felt worse than Harry looks in album coveer photo.

Quick thoughts post game
Game Date – June 5, 2026
Location: Frost Bank Center / San Antonio, Texas, USA
With a thrilling 105 to 104 victory, the New York Knicks now take a commanding lead of 2 (two) games to 0 (zero) over the San Antonio Spurs in the 2026 NBA Finals. They are now headed back to the ‘Big Apple’ for two games, the first on Monday the 8th, and then Wednesday the 10th.
The Knicks leave Texas hoping not to return. Empowered by hard fought road victories and in charge of their own destiny the Knicks want to sweep the Spurs on their home court, Madison Square Garden..
Despite having lost two games, the Spurs have displayed a never give up attitude. Tonight, this effort brought them to a one point lead with 1 minute remaining in the game, after being behind the entire second half. But it wasn’t;t enough to savor victory.
Wembanya stated after the game, “I messed that up” – pausing to contemplate before he spoke on the matter – “I messed up that one, its is on me”, In a hazy state of mind was the word he used to describe the events at the end of the game.
… vowing to use this loss to move immediately forward and motivation to prepare for game three in NYC at Madison Square Garden.
Explaining, as a player you need not to get too excited and too high over the wins, and not too low over this championship games. It’s (the game) is over, there is nothing that can be changed … … .
We did concede that perhaps he got to thrilled for too long over the Wetsern Conference playoff win last week. Admiring, that this could be something which has contributed to his sub par performance contrary to in his usual domination of the game. His defense has remained sufficient, his statistics low, and his offense performance appeared poor in the first game , and first half of the second game in the finals. In the second half of game two (2), his offense output improved. However costly mistakes determined the outcome of the game.
Karl – Anthony Towns is also undoubtedly a significant factor in Wembanyama’s offensive struggles. Towns has demonstrated that he is a stronger and more balanced base inside ‘The Paint’ basketball player. Towns has been a better power basketball player than Victor Wembanyama, so far, in the finals during the first two games.
Knicks stars, Jalen Brunson and Karl Towns were not on the court when the Knicks gave their strongest resistance to the Spurs 3rd quarter exercised resistance
… Brunson was back in the game in its final minute to deliver game winning shots, despite being held to a dismal over all shooting performance going 7 for 31. the Spurs were successful in their attentionto defense on Brunson.
Towns was also left on the bench, at the start of the fourth quarter, … a noticable coaching decision that did not appear to provoke a counter reaction from Spurs head Coach, Mitchell Johnson,
the starters rested as the substitute players gained advantage of the Spurs …
… rest, while … the Knicks subs increased a third quarter lead, Wembanyama was not on the floor, …. the Knicks substitution group of players were left on the floor by Head Coach, Mike Brown, at the start of the fourth quarter,
The subs set the table for the closers Brunson and Towns …
… …surprisingly, top spur players also sat on the bench.
Again, as they have demonstrate throughout the playoffs, the Spurs started the game strong, controlling both ends of the court. In a display of excellent coaching preparations and adjustment execution.
The Spurs brought a few new wrinkles to their game plan. Most obvious was a dominance of the defense over the fast scoring Knicks and scoring guard Jalen Bronson..
The adjustments and effects were short lived, as the Knicks powered to a half time lead. ,
The Spurs may have played their best quarter of basketball this year, in the first quarter of the game. But the 2nd quarter, the performance deteriorated …. . Yet, the Spurs found themselves only down by four points at half time, 56 – 52.
Turnovers and missed shots were leaving the Spurs searching for points.
The game was refereed in a manner that allowed both teams a display of ‘physical fighting basketball.
The Knicks had more muscle and the Spurs 7’5″ Wembanyama was not able to perform inside the lane, all he could do was drive toward the basket. He does not appear to have any post move offense.
‘The Paint’ is not been kind to Victor in the Finals.
. all Spurs were aggressive in their play defensive. … Victor fought hard … the entire team fought hard … they came back from 14 points down in the fourth quarter. they took a one point lead … then, stupid mistakes decided the outcome, leaving fans and well wishers numb, as the Knicks celebrated in the Frost Center .
The young phenom, Victor Wembanyama, looked shaken, hesitant and bewildered throughout the first half on the offensive side of the court. A
It was a continuation of game one’s lackluster offensive performance , it extended up until the second half, as the Spurs trailed by as much as 14 points until late in the game.
Despite making numerous unforced mistakes and turnovers, they gallant hart fighting Spurs crawled their way to a lead and possession of the ball with a chance to win the game or force overtime.
Then disaster hit. Victor Wembanyama began to dribble the ball in a change of court direction, and in panic and indecision, he tossed the ball into teammate Stephon Cassels back as he ran down the court. In a loose ball scramble, the mistake was compounded as Wembanyama fouled Knick guard, Jalen Brunson, sending him to the free throw line , where he made the first of two free shots.
The Spurs called time out after they were able to gain possession of the ball. The out of bounds allowed Wembanyama a chance to win the game with a last second 15 foot jump shot, which fell short as the game ending buzzer sounded.
The Knicks proved once again that they have a strong bench of substitute players, and experience filled clever experience in how to win NBA basketball games.
The Spurs strong determination not to concede was not enough to overcome the Knicks knowledge of hos the win.
Ref #25, Brown, seems to appear in many playoff games that have an edge of rough play, confusion, and an inconsistent whistle.
His crew seems to spend a lot of time reviewing calls that apparently they missed. He makes many strange call referee call during the many playoff games he is head referee. . Tonight this was not the determining factor, but his methods control who stays in the game and who must sit out due to foul trouble. He is a wily old ref that know how and when to adjust the score of a game
